JP Laboratories, Inc., is a family owned product research and development company founded by Dr. Gordhan Patel in 1983. We develop new products/processes and license them to other companies for manufacturing and marketing on royalty basis. We manufacture SIRAD^® (Self-indicating Instant Radiation Alert Dosimeters), Though we are a small company, our research interests are very diverse: chemistry, physics and biology.

We take pride in developing a SIRAD technology for combating terrorism. SIRAD dosimeters in the form of a badge or sticker can be used for monitoring high energy radiation for triaging medical treatment and to minimize the panic and worry in an event of an attack by terrorists with a radiological dispersion device called a dirty bomb. JP Labs received the Frost and Sullivan Award for “Excellence in Technology” in 2004, the R&D100 award in 2005 and several other recognitions for the development of SIRAD. Dr. Patel was invited by the US congressional subcommittee to testify on SIRAD technology

We have been developing color changing indicators for monitoring a variety of processes and materials, such as time, temperature, time-temperature, radiation, pressure, humidity, sterilization and toxic chemicals since 1983. We had been etching metals and plastics since 1986. Though demonstrated earlier, we recognized that a variety of indicators can be developed using a metallized plastic film with ~10 nanometer thick layer of aluminum. However, we accepted the responsibility of developing and manufacturing SIRAD technology for combating terrorism. In 2007, we fully resumed our research on the development of self-reading indictors presented here on this website or linked to it. In doing so, we recognized that we were exploring a new field nanotechnology, we call it nano-destructology or nano-convertology.
