JP LABORATORIES

JP Laboratories, Inc is a product research and development company. We develop new products/processes and license them to other companies for manufacturing and marketing on royalty basis. Though we are a small company, our research interests are very diverse: chemistry, physics and biology. We have several major areas of research: (1) Color changing indicators for perishables, such as foods, (2) Color changing indicators for monitoring sterilization of medical supplies, (3) Radiation sensitive devices, (4) Synthetic lipids (5) Etching and metallization of plastics and (6) Synthetic blood. JP Labs has developed more than twenty patented new products and processes. About half of these products have been licensed.

We take pride in developing a unique product for combating terrorism. We have developed a radiation dosimeter called SIRAD (for Self-indicating Instant Radiation Alert Dosimeter) which is in form a badge which can be used for monitoring high energy radiation in case of an attack by terrorists with a radiological dispersion device called dirty bomb (an explosive mixed with a radioactive material). JP Labs received Frost and Sullivan Award for “Excellence in Technology” 2004 for development of SIRAD.

The company is a family owned company, founded by Dr. Gordhan Patel in 1983. We have highly equipped research and development facility. We are recipient of more than fifteen SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) grants of multi-million dollars from a number of departments and agencies of the US Government.
